US President Barack Obama has appointed Dr Mohamed El-Erian, an Egyptian-American and one of the most prominent economists in the world, as President of global development, according to a press release from the White House about the number of appointments to leadership positions with the American administration.
And Dr Mohamed El-Erian served as Executive Officer and in charge of the investment company Pacific investment management “Pemco”, two posts since 2007.
Dr. Al-Arian joined the company in 1999 as a senior member of the Group portfolio management and investment strategy, and in 2006 joined the Harvard pickers management company as President and Chief Executive Officer before returning to the 2007 Pemco.
Prior to this, Dr. Al-Arian served as Managing Director and Managing Director with Salomon Smith Barney, Citigroup in London, and worked at the International Monetary Fund for 15 years, during which he served as Deputy Director from 1995 to 1997.
He is a member of the Board of the Carnegie Endowment for international peace, and the National Bureau of economic research, Investment Advisory Committee is headed by Microsoft, he is also a member of the Advisory Committee of the investor to financial markets in the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
Dr. Al-Arian received his Bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Cambridge University, and earned a doctoral degree in economics from the University of Oxford.
Born Dr. Mohamed a. El-Erian, 1958 French mother and Egyptian father, Abdullah Al-Arian, who was a Professor of law and a judge of the International Court of justice. And his uncle Ahmad Al-Arian, a Professor of materials engineering at Faculty of engineering, Cairo University, Dr. Mohamed a. El-Erian is married to lawyer.
It is one of the rare Egyptian expertise which gained international attention and won a place in the area of finance and economy. Thanks to the long-standing experience, his lectures by in many parts of the world elite of society, politicians, economists and industry folks.
El-Erian got his degree in economics from Cambridge University, and then earned a m.a. and Ph.d. in economics from the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.
And El-Erian, one of the most prominent economists in the world, Chief Executive of the global investment Pemco is one of the largest asset management companies in the world and manages assets in excess of 1,100 billion dollars, since returning in January 2008 after working for two years as Chief Executive in a Harvard University who manages Scholarship Fund and its accounts. Although it didn’t take long for his stay there, during the full fiscal year of his leadership, the Fund was able to achieve a return of 23 per cent, the highest in the history of the University.
Worked for 15 years at the International Monetary Fund in Washington before turning to the private sector, where he worked as Executive Director in Salomon Smith Barney of Citigroup in London, and in 1999 joined the Pemco Foundation global investment.
Dr. Al-Arian published many studies on the global economic and financial issues, and won many titles and his name has emerged as one of the most important stars of the investment world who boarded with unusual speed, in 2008 won a global award for his book “when markets collide.”
