Gold Chinese Panda coin

The Gold Chinese Panda coin is issued since 1982 by the people’s Bank of China. The first editions of the Chinese Panda did not have coined no nominal value. Something similar occurs also with the Krugerrand, which until today neither coined any nominal value. Chinese Gold Panda is highly prized among collectors and investors for its design, which changes every year, and has become one of the most popular of the world collection and investment coins.

The Chinese Panda is coined by the Shanghai und Shangyang Mint. It’s interesting that these gold coins are provided a surcharge from their broadcast, which highlights his great popularity and high demand.

The Chinese Panda design

In comparison with other currencies of investment between gold coins, the Chinese Panda changes its design with relative frequency. The obverse of this coin of gold is reserved for the Temple of heaven in Beijing. The reverse, however, shows almost every year a misleading picture of a bear panda (the same reason for the panda was used only in the years 2001 and 2002). Precisely because of this continuous change in the Chinese Panda design is presented as a particularly interesting coin for collectors and investors alike.

Issuance of Chinese Panda gold coins

The issuance of the Chinese Panda has changed continuously over the past two decades. Currently are issued every year coins of 1/20 ounce (nominal value 5 Yuan), 1/10 oz (10 Yuan face value), quarter ounce (25 Yuan face value), ½ ounce (face value of 50 Yuan) and 1 ounce of gold (100 Yuan face value). The different nominal values of coins vary in a few years, due to the fact that in 2001 a revaluation of the Yuan was held. In addition, at certain time intervals you can find special coins with different ounces, five or twelve ounces. There are also variants of the gold Panda one gram, a kilo and five kilos.
